Principal’s Newsletter
May 2013
What a shock it is to return to school after Easter to discover that the end of the school year is fast approaching. Everyone is in overdrive here at La Salle. The seniors are the most frenetic of the bunch trying to maintain their composure while facing last minute college decisions, final examinations and the daunting preparation for prom [Thursday, May 23rd at Giandos in Brooklyn] Seniors are reminded that absence from school on that day means you are not permitted to attend the prom. Be in school and on time!
Endings are difficult and the Seniors are facing the reality that their time at La Salle is coming to an end. On the whole most of them would say that they are ready for the end Right Now – but in truth we all remember that the actual experience of the end of high school was far more painful than we care to admit. Good friends and brothers are soon to be scattered around the country at many different colleges. People that we have known – some since elementary school – will be passing out of our lives in a few short weeks.
This is a good time to remember that we are indeed together in God’s holy presence and that we can always find one another standing before Christ in prayer. Prayer is communion – we are joining together with God to pray with and for those we know and love. My prayer is that the current Seniors remember to pray in thanks for La Salle and for those of us who remain behind in the coming years. Remember, you are La Salle and you will always have a home here.
The other classes too are working toward the end of the year but the underclassmen have a few more weeks of school before exams begin. This is crunch time with many of you still facing some serious work. Settle in for the last weeks and make a habit of studying and completing work.
Be on time!
Be prepared!
Be attentive!
Focus is what’s needed at this time remembering that the sharper your focus the greater your chances of success!
