LSA Varsity Baseball Recap vs Sacred Heart

Wednesday, May 3, 2017 – The La Salle Cardinals rolled up 11 runs to complete the five-inning shutout against Sacred Heart on a breezy afternoon on field #6 in East River Park.  The Cardinals, extended their winning streak to six and improved to 8-1 in the CHSAA “A” division and 8-3 overall.

Angel Fernandez-Diaz (W, 1-1) toss a 2-hitter with six strikeouts against only 2 walks for the complete game shutout. Adrian Santos, starting in right field, nearly hit for the cycle going 3 for 3 (H, 2B, 3B, 2R, 3RBIs) and Jervon Warlick, added 3RBIs with a hit and a run from the leadoff position, to pace the offense.

After a quick top of the first, La Salle got on the board first when Julian Nieves (HBP) scored from second on Santos’ to right.  In the bottom of the second, the Cardinals struck again, this time for six runs to break the game open, keyed by RBI doubles from Warlick and Santos.  That was more than enough for Fernandez-Diaz, who also drove in the final Cardinals run with a sacrifice fly to left, driving in John Michael Silvers from third who followed up a Santos triple with a triple of his own to right field.
