La Salle’s May Recap

Happy June! As the school year winds down, we want to share with you our jam-packed recap from May.

Earlier this month, our Civic Scholars participated in Civic Spirit Day where they gathered with 12 other Catholic and Jewish schools from the New York City area. They worked as teams to create their idea for a summer service program catered toward graduating high school seniors. It was amazing to see so many students from such diverse backgrounds work so well together! Click here to see more photos from the day.

We hosted our first Asian/Pacific American Assembly earlier this month. Special guests included Deputy Commissioner of NYC Parks & Recreation, Joy Wang, President of the LIRR, Phillip Eng, the highest ranking Asian American in the NYPD, Chief Thomas Chan, Deputy Consul Generals of India and China, and Queens Congresswoman, Grace Meng. Students were also treated to a performance by the New York Chinese Cultural Center dancers. See more photos from the event here.

The 28th Annual Spring Gala raised approximately $1.4 million in scholarships for our boys. Thank you to our incredible honorees — Civic Spirit, Len Eidlen ’72, Thomas J. Connaughton ’53, and Larry Rawson — for your commitment to our school. Thank you also to Juliet Papa for emceeing our event at The Pierre. It was a night to remember! See more from the evening here.

La Salle’s 31st Annual High School Art Contest and Art Expo took place on May 22nd. For the past 31 years, the La Salle Art Expo has given students from Catholic, private and public high schools the opportunity to display their artistic gifts and talents. Congratulations to all of the talented artists both at La Salle and from our neighboring schools!

La Salle’s Class of 2019 had a great time dressing up for their Senior Prom on May 23rd at Giando on the Water in Brooklyn. It was a fun and well-deserved evening out for these hard-working young men who will graduate on Thursday, June 6th at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

100 young men entering La Salle Academy’s Class of 2023, along with their families, attended our Annual Freshman Welcome Dinner last Wednesday. They heard from our school’s leadership about the high school transition process and expectations for September. Welcome to La Salle, boys! Click here to see more.
