La Salle Academy’s May Recap

Familiar rituals are taking place as we careen towards the conclusion of the academic year. Read more about those rituals that happened in May below. Last night we gathered for the Athletic Awards Ceremony (virtually), today we come together for the Graduation Mass (in person with Bishop Edmund Whalen presiding), and tomorrow we celebrate our Commencement Exercises (at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral with a limited guest list.)

Twenty La Salle men were inducted into our chapter of the National Honor Society at a recent ceremony at St. George’s Church. The parents of the new members, along with some teachers and school administrators, attended the event. Here is a photo of me with Daniel E. ’22 outside after the ceremony.

The May issue of The Cardinal Newspaper is now available on our website! As May was a month in which we honor teachers, this edition of The Cardinal is dedicated entirely to the teachers of La Salle Academy. I am pleased to know and serve with these hardworking individuals.

Seniors who opted to participate journeyed on a class trip to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey as part of their “Senior Week” festivities last week. The soon-to-be graduates had a relaxing day off-site and out of uniform but still masked up for the adventure.

If you are a La Salle graduate, we want to hear from you for the Alumni News section of our website! This page focuses on professional and career accomplishments of our alumni. Email yours to Ms. Daria Coney at [email protected].

Our 29th Annual Scholarship Benefit happening on 24 June is shaping up nicely. The number that can be accommodated in person at our rooftop dinner is limited but everyone is invited to view a free live-streamed showing of the awards ceremonyClick here to register as a livestream attendee! Individual and corporate sponsors have made contributions and more are being solicited. Our goal is to net $500,000 and we are already more than three-quarters of the way there. Please consider a donation of any amount. Our students who receive tuition assistance will benefit. Thank you.

Please join me in praying in gratitude for the success of this most unusual school year and for God’s blessings on the members of our Class of 2021. A list of the colleges where they were accepted is on our website. Information about where they have enrolled will soon be posted there as well.

Sincerely, with prayers and best wishes,

Brother Thomas P. Casey, FSC
President
