EAST VILLAGE HIGH SCHOOL DOES IT AGAIN!
OVER $1 MILLION RAISED FOR STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

East Village, N.Y., May 16, 2019 – La Salle Academy has done it again with another million-dollar gala under its belt! The high school, situated in Manhattan’s East Village, celebrated its 28th Annual Spring Gala at The Pierre Hotel in Manhattan on Thursday, May 9th, where approximately $1.4 million for student scholarships was raised.

La Salle has seen many successes over the last five years thanks to its hands-on board leadership and generous community of alumni and friends. Dr. Catherine Guerriero, who has served as the school’s President for the last five years and as Principal for the last year, said, “This was our best Gala yet. La Salle Academy is a self-propelled engine of giving that is generously fueled by her amazing alumni and deep bench of friends and partners.”

Salvatore LaRocca ‘82, Chairman of La Salle’s Board of Trustees and President of Global Partnerships for the NBA, along with Vincent S. Tese ’60, La Salle Board Trustee and Executive Chairman of Florida Community Bank, served as Spring Gala Co-Chairs. They each shared their Lasallian pride and support of their alma mater.

The 28th Annual Spring Gala honored three distinguished men for their constant support and extraordinary commitment to La Salle: Len Eidlen ’72 DBA Len Adams, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Adams Consulting Group/ACG Resources; Thomas J. Connaughton ’53, Retired Businessman; and Larry Rawson, famed ESPN track and field commentator. Civic Spirit, a collaborative civics education initiative, received the Educator of the Year Award at the event, and Juliet Papa, Award-Winning Reporter for 1010 Wins Radio, joined the cast as this year’s emcee.

La Salle Academy has been providing a rigorous, college-preparatory Catholic education in the Lasallian tradition to those most in need for 171 years and counting. The mission of La Salle Academy, a rigorous college-preparatory high school, is to educate students of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds with special out-reach to those most in need. We provide a nurturing environment, which fosters spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional and physical growth in the Roman Catholic tradition and the Lasallian spirit, as embodied in St. John Baptist de La Salle. We create experiences of community within the school and encourage each student to develop their gifts and talents for their own growth, as well as engage in the caring service of others, through its academic, extra-curricular and spiritual programs.
