La Salle Falls to Christ The King

Wednesday, May 1, 2019 – Queens, NY– In a match-up of two of the top teams of the CHSAA ‘A’ Division,  the La Salle Cardinals came up on the short end of the 10-2 decision against Christ The King at Juniper Valley Park.

The Cardinals jumped out to the early 1-0 lead on the legs of Nicholas Rivera, who lead off the game with a bunt base hit, then stole second and was able to score from third on a wild pitch after being advanced with a sacrifice bunt from Cristobal Rivera. However, in the bottom of the inning, Christ The King, batted around for a big inning on La Salle starter, Carlos Flores, who took the loss.   Flores did settle down and kept the Royals off the board the next four innings but the damage was done as was the Cardinals six game winning streak.

Next Up:  It’s a quick turnaround as the Cardinals host last year’s champion, St. Edmund Prep at Central Park North Meadow Field 6 on Thursday, May 2nd.  First pitch is 3:30pm.
