HiStory

Welcome to our La Salle Academy alumni news section! This page will maintain a career focus in order to celebrate the success of our alumni. We will also include obituaries that highlight the careers of alumni who have passed away.

While we are in touch with many alumni, we may not know of specific career moves and achievements happening for the thousands of men in our database, so we invite you to share this information with us. March 2021

This month’s Alumni News article recognizes three alumni who sit on La Salle Academy’s COVID-19 Task Force. This Task Force was convened to ensure that our stakeholders had input in how we address the unprecedented situation precipitated by the current pandemic. All three of the men below have tremendously helped guide and shape La Salle’s COVID-19 policies and procedures which are designed to minimize the risk of virus transmission for students, faculty and staff.

Martin Cottingham

Class of 1988

Martin Cottingham ’88 brings years of corporate experience to our COVID Task Force, including knowledge on how to handle delicate nuances and communication related to COVID-19 within the workplace. Marty, a Principal at Avison Young, is also Co-Vice Chairman of La Salle’s Board of Trustees and played an instrumental role in the recent sale of the Annex building on 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue.

Thomas Issing

Class of 1974

Thomas Issing ’74, Owner of East Village Environmental LLC, has been a fantastic addition to our COVID Task Force, especially with his knowledge of enhanced cleaning and disinfecting processes to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Tom donated air conditioning filters for use in the school’s AC units, as well as hospital-grade cleaning solution to sanitize desks in our classrooms. Tom also volunteers his time to the school as Co-Chair of La Salle Academy’s Alumni Association.

Dr. Ricardo Sequeira

Class of 1970

Dr. Ricardo Sequeira ’70 is an Internal Medicine Specialist in Brooklyn and has over 40 years of experience in the medical field. Ricardo has played a key role in providing the COVID Task Force with medical expertise and accurate medical information in order to implement proper procedures intended to minimize risk to students, faculty and staff.
