I Wanted to do More to Engage in the Life of the School
As an alumnus and Board Trustee of La Salle Academy, I have been contributing to the school for over 15 years. This year, I wanted to do more to engage in the life of the school while still supporting the mission. I became a Lasallian Patron, which has given me the opportunity to not only support a young man financially, but academically as well. The experience has been incredibly impactful for both of us.
I was paired with Isaiah, whom I met at the Lasallian Patron Dinner last December (pictured below.) We bonded over our common interests and I learned more about what he wanted to do after graduation. He also talked about his challenges with math. Since I am a math educator, I offered to help. Throughout the year, we set up virtual tutoring sessions when he wanted support with particularly difficult assignments. He texted me with questions, and I responded with pictures and examples. I am thankful that we were able to build a rapport that allowed Isaiah and his family to see me as a resource that could help him along his journey. It was a positive experience for both of us.
